How it works

Outbound — Elido → Mixpanel Track API

When a tracked link is clicked, Elido's conversion-forwarder calls Mixpanel's server-side Track API with your project token. The event arrives in Mixpanel within seconds with all utm_* properties attached as event properties.

Two steps to link-click events in Mixpanel

    Get your Mixpanel project token

    Mixpanel → Settings → Project → Access Keys → Project Token. The project token is distinct from your API secret — copy the token, not the secret.

    Paste in Elido

    /dashboard/conversions → Mixpanel → paste token. Click events arrive as Mixpanel events with utm_* + click_id properties. Save.

Authentication

Project token — not the API secret

Mixpanel's server-side Track API uses a project token (not the API secret). The project token is safe to use server-side for event ingestion. Elido encrypts it with your workspace's KMS key before storage. The token is not a credential that grants read access to your Mixpanel data — it only permits writing events to the project. You can rotate it from Mixpanel's project settings and remove the integration from /dashboard/conversions at any time.

Frequently asked questions

Does Elido read my Mixpanel data?+

No. Elido sends events to Mixpanel using your project token. It does not read your existing Mixpanel events, user profiles, or reports.

What does the Mixpanel event look like?+

Elido sends a custom event named 'Link Clicked' (or configurable name) with properties: slug, destination_url, utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, click_id, country, device_type. These appear in Mixpanel Events and are usable in Funnels and Flows.

How does Elido identify users in Mixpanel?+

Elido uses the click_id as the distinct_id when no authenticated user is present. For authenticated users with a known email, the email is used. This means anonymous clicks appear as separate Mixpanel profiles.

Can I limit Elido to only specific links sending to Mixpanel?+

Not yet per-link. The integration forwards all click events from your Elido workspace. Per-link event routing is on the roadmap.

How do I revoke Elido's access to Mixpanel?+

Remove the integration at /dashboard/conversions → Mixpanel → Remove. The stored project token is deleted. You can also regenerate your Mixpanel project token from Mixpanel settings.
